She enjoys things such as being outdoors and obviously loves to read. Something students may not have known is that she used to be a math teacher for Sequoia and Kings Canyon but is now our librarian. In her own words she is a “big nerd”. What is your favorite book?Her favorite book is East of Eden. What is your favorite genre of books?Ms.McGarvin's favorite genre of books is biographies. What inspired you to become a librarian? Like we said before Ms.McGarvin described herself as a super nerd so she enjoys learning new things and the library is home to learning new things so just the fact that she could be learning new things inspired her to become a librarian. Is there a book that really changed you and if so what was it? There was a book that changed her and that was “I know Why the Caged Bird Sings”. Her story behind why it changed her was that back in highschool they had to read a novel so she chose a classic and her teacher was really good so instead of the classic the teacher suggested she read “I Know Why the Caged Bird Sings”. So it changed her because the teacher suggested a book she knew she would enjoy over one that she knew she wouldn’t enjoy as much. Where were you raised? She was raised in South West Fresno. Do you believe reading a paper book is better than reading a digital book`? To her it really depends because if she’s reading to learn she prefers an actual paper book,but if she’s reading for her own enjoyment she prefers a digital book. What do you believe motivates you the most? What motivates her the most is knowing she’s helping others. What are you most proud of? She is most proud of her son Tyler who just graduated. What life lesson did you learn the hard way and why? She learned you can't get out of a speeding ticket. Tell us 5 things you’re interested in. 1.Math because she was a math teacher 2.Making sure people pursue their passion 3.Politics 4.Religion 5.Community involvement Why are you interested in politics, religion, and community involvement?
